From lecture 1 to lecture 5 book notes: Cyber emotional intelligence: examines the assumptions that we make about people based on their online personalities. This is a new line of research developed to understand the intentions of people virtually. Psychology involves the study of behavior that includes perceptions, behavior, thoughts, and emotions and how they affect physical, mental, social and environmental factors. A person who carefully follows a system of observing, predicting, and testing is conducting science. The scientific method is a way of learning about the world through collecting observations, developing theories to explain them, and using the theories to make predictions. Scientists use this method to generate hypothesis which is then tested, either confirmed or rejected. Confirmed ones generate more hypothesis to support original study while the rejected ones are either discarded or modified and used to revise the original study. It is not based on the subject and involves dynamic interaction b/w hypothesis testing and constructing theories.
