Species assemblage are dictated by abiotic conditions, biotic interactions, temporal and spatial variabiliyu. Species that form assemblages are determine by their ability to disperse, the geography of landscape (impacts what species can get there, related to dispersal ability), abiotic factors as well as internal dynamics. A community is defined as: environment based, environment or biome, the largest or most abundant species (i. e. grasslands grass dominated), can vary in scale (very small microcosm large area. Determined by what species or question you"re interested in. Species diversity across scales: alpha and beta diversity, varies across time and space.
