Nosocomial infection- an infection acquired during hospitalization. Routine practices- for blood, body fluids, secretions, except sweat, and nonintact skin and mucous membranes. Transmission-based precautions- intended for use with patients with documented or suspected transmissible infections. Maintain a warm environment, use nice voice and try to assess 1-2 hours after feeding. Save the invasive eye, ear, nose and throat until last. Do the moro or startle reflex at the end. Don"t offer choices, unless it is this first or that? . With preschool kids: very similar to above, do eye, ear, nose and throat last. With school-age children: assess head to toe just like with adults. Made up of health history, measurements, vital signs, physical appearance, body structure, mobility and behavior.
