Within indus, we are talking about flood plain (not much green) Two rivers: indus river and saraswati (now extinct) Pakistan and india are not affected by monsoon season- minimum rain. Water from indus river is essential for agriculture. Like tigris and euphrates, when indus and saraswati river tumbles down, they bring organic rich sediment ready for agriculture later. Straight from indus: another mountain range (more resources: timber, rocks, minerals) City: mohenjo daro in mature harappan phase (2500-1900 bc) (grid system each city has streets and avenues, with houses within it; raised upper and lower sections) > cities and town are similar in overall conception, each are laid out in grid pattern with upper and lower area. > each house has a well for drinking water, an area to bath, drainage system for human waste. >walls: for flood (from sarswati river), no evidence of violence; wall is there to keep water out.
