Sociology refers to the study of how people interact, organize into groups, and form institutions and societies, and how the pattern of their interaction and association shape their life. The sociology of deviance is the sociological study of deviant behaviour, or the recognized violation of cultural norms. Went over syllabus (three exams worth 30% each, two eclass quizzes each 5%) Final exam is not cumulative (all three exams are multiple choice, Exams are short and difficult (30 questions) Must have a c before december 1st. Worth one additional point on the final course grade. Write a one page analysis of portrayals of deviance in popular culture. Watched youtube video on man vs storm , about supernatural vs scientific. A specific way of thinking about the world characterized by a willingness to think beyond our own experiences and to challenge common sense or obvious explanation of human society and human behaviour.
