Weber 3 types of dominaion or (legiimate) authority. A reason" or moive for obedience; the jusiicaion for following the commands of a paricular person. Authority derives from a legal, raional process, such as voing, or meritocraic system of exams to choose best candidate. Tradiion makes this person the authority; he/she can also designate oicials whose authority thus stems from tradiion. This person has a git of grace": he/she inspires you to obey by force of his/her vision or personality. Power: any ability to get your way, including violence or economic coercion, even if others oppose you or are unwilling to obey. Doesn"t require any willing consent by those who obey. Dominaion: probability that others accept commands as valid: they go along with the command, rather than trying to resist it. May involve consent, posiion within social structures, habit. Those in posiions of power are usually doing it to beneit themselves or their group.
