Protestantism took aware the assurance that the catholic church provides that is you accepted the churches sacraments that an individual is saved. The protestant ethic imples that an individual must achieve success through hard work, throughout their lives and this is essentially the spirit of capitalism. This shows the influence that religion can have on society: the thomas theorem is important in studying religious ideas because it suggests that interpretation of a situation is not objective. It emphasises that sociology is not searching for capital t" truth, but rather is exploring the outside forces that lead to the interpretations that are present. Every situation occurs under the influence of many other things (family, economy, etc) and nothing, including religion exist, within a vacuum: religion has been key in the creation of many insistution within canada. Univertisies, such as mcmaster, queens, acadia, laval, and hospitals, inititives to establish fairness in the work pace were srated by religious groups.
