Communication: the process of acting upon information: human communication: Is the process of making sense out of the world and sharing that sense with others by creating meaning, using verbal and nonverbal messages: interpersonal communication: A distinctive, transactional form of human communication involving mutual influence, usually for the purpose of managing relationships. All human communication ranges from impersonal to interpersonal. Occurs when we treat people as objects, or when we respond to their roles rather than who they are as unique persons. Other types of communication: mass communication: one person issues the same message to many people and is usually not physically present. Radio, tv: public communication: addressing large audience in person, small group communication: group of people (3-15) get together for common purpose and mutually influence on another. E. g. talks to self, argues with self, interrupts self while arguing with self.
