One key goal of sociology is to systematically study and analyze the various elements that constitute a society"s structure and the relationships among these elements. We look at social structures, power relations, and how these interactions are shaped through much bigger power relations. Shapes how people live: they are shaped by the historical, cultural, social, economic and political variables. Materialism is the study of political economy: how society transformed and changed the economic organization of society within the economic change. Macrosociology sees societies as a whole and focuses on a large- scale/long term. Argues society is perfect the way it is and should stay the same way b/c the ppl who created it benefitted from the society staying the way it is. Claimed that certain people are innately superior and innately inferior. Biological determinist argue that social inequality is based on underlying biological differences.
