How to analyze oppression: single issue - exclusive, narrow perspective that doesn(cid:96)t consider itself related to other forms of oppression. Ignores intersectionality: additive - acknowledges other forms of oppression but considers them secondary, intersectional - considers other forms of oppression but risks being reductive if the overarching structure of oppression is not recognized. Ex: a quantitive analysis of how different identities (cid:108)intersect(cid:122)(cid:1: interlocking - holistic approach that recognizes how each intersecting identity forms a structure that perpetuates systemic oppression in society. Not just identifying, there is an element of action involved. Matrix of oppression: def(cid:96)n: a quantitive analysis of power. Identity is a direct representation of the power society awards that person. You can be (cid:108)oppositional(cid:122) and express your dissent in the official sphere.
