Care of the person with renal - hepatic issues: describe the common causes of liver failure, and specifically the likely etiology of. Hemochromatosis (an inherited disorder that causes the body to absorb and store too much iron) Reactions to certain rx and herbal medication. Mr. nader is experiencing portal hypertension, usually caused by cirrhosis of liver (however, the cause can be unknown) Evidence of a diagnosis of copd (through use of non-rebreather @ 10l/min), causing tachycardia, and possibly heart failure (right sided heart failure leads to back-up of the systemic system in to organssuch as liver) Portal hypertension is an increase in the blood pressure within a system of veins called the portal venous system. Normally, the veins come from the stomach, intestine, spleen, and pancreas, merge into the portal vein, which then branches into smaller vessels and travels through the liver.
