The group family is the basic form of every civilization. Family: ancient structural institution everyone is touched by a family in some form of their life, some will recreate it. Considered to be the most basic and universal group in society. Papu, newguine: 3 sets of gender roles: mother is nurturing, father a stricture role, reverse where father is the nurturing role. A family is an institution at a macro level, it is where we get policies the macro level is public. Public is the structure as a whole that makes everything better for society as a whole. On a social level it is a small group (micro) private. Private is how you work within that system. Does not mean you can do anything because private is given guidelines and rules by the public over what is permitted and what is not. The private and the public sector work together.
