Assumes that norms and values influence individual aging. Focus is on the role of social structures in the process of individual aging and the stratification by age in the society (bengtson et al. , People in each cohort flow through society"s predetermined age grades as they age. Experiences of cohorts similar perceiving events similarly in relation to age grp and birth. People change society; different norms, values, and roles of cohorts.
