Running head: how energy reserve is hurting africa. The us government has been exploiting oil reserves in the african continent. Although involved in this highly-profitable business, average citizens living in african have seen little improvement to their lives as a result of these oil reserves. In julia maxted"s essay, exploiting of energy resource in africa (2006), she discussed the effect of us natural resource operations happening in the african countries. Julia"s essay argued that the oil exploitation is in fact harming local residences" lives. Nigeria, one of the largest oil producers in africa, have not seen any improvement on the general quality of life of residences since the beginning of the operations since six decades ago (maxted, 2007). The situations in other regions are similar to those of nigeria"s, where people are being abused of their rights, and their resources being taken away and reserved as capitals in the banks of an american government.
