Ethnocentrism- the erroneous idea that ones culture and values are somehow right or superior to another cultures. Many people judge another culture according to the standards of their own. Cultural relativism- an approach adopted and promoted by anthropologists. Opposite of ethnocentrism, understanding another society on its own terms. Ethnography- a description of an aspect of a culture within a society. The scientific method- a systematic observation of the world, a way of knowing th world around us through observation. They seek to answer questions about the human biological conditions in both past and present conditions. Interested in the emergence of humans and their evolutionary relationships with others. They are interested in the behaviour of our closest relatives such as primates. They observe the various species of primates in the wild and laboratory. How and why different human populations differ in biological or physical characteristics.
