Exam: most of the questions will revolve around the theoretical frameworks (different families), main questions are about diff. schools of thought. Don"t neglect the texts that we have discussed in class, especially second discussion. Difference between neorealists and realists: classical realism is much less structured than neorealism. Thinks that ir are about power and struggle not because of structure (like neorealists) but because human nature is awed (constant struggle, con ict, fear of others). Also classical realism = much less structured literature. Realists as whole consider that state is a main actor, and see state as rational actor. Neorealists try to give a more structured theoretical framework than realists. Called structural realism, because it believes that source of con ict and what determines ir outcomes is system itself since it is anarchic, states are constantly uncertain about other states" intentions.
