In 1968 the saudi minister of petroleum and mineral resources had publicly broached the idea of saudi participation in aramco, and after long negotiations, it is agreed that the saudi government will buy 25 percent of the company. 16 years, aramco will be converted to a totally saudi-owned company called saudi.
