Concept of silk roads: currently: chinese government engaging in the one road, one belt initiative, connecting parts of central and east asia as well as africa (and recently also latin. 2: eastern coastal africa through maritime shipping, almost no trade in the south due to geography, e. g. Chinese statue in africa and painting of animals: trade accounts: people who travelled informed their leaders about different parts of the world, e. g. Marco polo 13th century: mongolia, india, china, rich source of life in, e. g. Moroccan ibn batutta 14th century: travelled to china, wrote manuscript, partly found in 1818, travelling different: foot and pack animals. Including emergence of islam: no revolutionary changes, just consolidation. Wealth, power and society: economic espansion, through trade and facilitated transport, transportation. Individual salvation: depended on individual role, also of the ruler, universal subjection and ritual, everyone subjected to the rules, common rituals which created social cohesion, major role of consolidation phase of old world web.
