Memory recall plays an important role in our daily lives. For example, when students are studying for and exam, it requires memorization and being able to recall the material that is taught and studied during the exam. The serial position effect is the propensity of a person to recall the first and last in a list best and the middle items being the worst. The hypothesis tested in this experiment was the serial position effect and delayed recall. When the participants are presented with multiple words, they will remember the first and last few words more likely then words in the middle. Firstly, it is hypothesized that words at the beginning (primacy) and end (recency) are better remembered. This is because the words at the beginning are more likely to be stored in long-term memory while the words at the end are more likely to be stored in short-term memory.
