Radiometric dating: procedure of calculating the absolute ages of rocks and minerals that contain certain radioactive isotopes. Relative dating techniques: the placing of rocks and structures in their proper structures in their proper sequence or order. Only the chronologic order of events is determined. Mineral: a naturally occurring crystalline solid with a definite, but not necessarily fixed, chemical composition. (usually inorganic processes). Crystalline means that the atoms in a mineral are arranged in a highly ordered geometric pattern crystal structure. Solid means that it is not a gas, liquid or plasma definite chemical composition means that the chemical composition can be expressed by a chemical formula. Sublimation: solid deposit of a substance that has changed into a vapor when heated. Tetrahedron: pyramid with triangle base= 4 corners, hence tetra.
