Same rules apply as before with z-scores and probability. Single sample t-test: 1 sample mean compared to a hypothesized mean. Independent samples t-test: two groups each with a sample mean. Repeated measures sample t-test (paired sample t-test/matched pairs t-test): 1 group tested twice (pre/post) Repeated measures t-test or dependent t-test is performed when the data comes matched in some way (i. e. , correlated) Testing for iq before and after a brain game. Goal was to assess the effect of treatment for anorexia on the pre and post weight of 17 anorexic girls. Matched pairs: 2 samples, one before treatment and one after treatment. Difference between scores represent the degree of change. Focus on the size and direction of the change (the exact values is not what matters) The advantage of matched pairs t-test over independent t-test is the differences at the start are removed (we look at the change)
