The genetic approach to personality: to what extent does your genetic framework influence the type of person you turn out to be a casual influence. Role of genes: how significant a role genes play in your life, height, eye colour, facial features, personality, attitudes, behaviour. Influence: heritable: extent to which genetics play a role in behaviour, trait ect Inherited: behaviour or trait is determined by genes 100% influence. 10% differ, we look at the percentage to see what makes each of us different. Heritability of personality charactertistics: phenotype: a single personality characteristic- the actual physical expression of a particular trait, genotype: a set of genes that is responsible for a certain trait. Heritability estimates are tied to a place and time. If everyone in a population has same environment then influence of genotype will be greater. If environment differs across a population then the influence of genotype will be less.
