It all began with sigmund freud: people who say they"re in psych one thing you often hear is ask if you will analyze them. Asking you to analyze their dreams: stereotypical psychologist , unconscious mind this is the freudian theory. He gets a bit of a bad rep and it was kind of deserved. When nobody else was thinking about it, it was a cool idea and it is right. To be the one who comes up with those first ideas and put them out there is very difficult: defense mechanisms we often talk about them, this was a freudian idea, talking cure essentially talk therapy. As much as he has many criticisms, he also came out with some pretty major building blocks. Unconscious motivation: these ideas are still around today. Conscious: contains thoughts, feelings, and images about which you are presently aware. Whatever you"re physically aware of: small fraction of what is available.
