The field of personality is all about trying to understand all the differences between us. Personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that is organized and relatively enduring and that influences his or her interactions with, and adaptations to, the environment (including the intrapsychic, physical, and social environment). Characteristics that describe ways in which people are different from each other. Traits are your normal way; state is any particular moment. Adjectives that can be used to describe characteristics of people are called trait- descriptive characteristics.
