Task is to mentally plan how to move coloured discs one by one in the minimum number of moves, to match goal configuration. Task cannot be performed efficiently until ages 15-17: behavioural development can be analyzed and predictions can be made about what underlying circuitry must be emerging. Behavioural development predicts brain development (e. g. development of language implies the development of the brain areas involved in language: factors that influence both brain and behavioural development, such as language or injury, can be studied.
