Information is based on what is on slides (lecture only) Basic components of language: form, structure, etc. Brain: lateralization, damage, aphasia, removing one hemisphere, etc. Different theories & models of language: social interact, spreading activation. How speech is made: teeth, tongue, lips. Fricaters: know what is in the oral cavity and what it does. Different models of speech: trace, fuzzy, etc. Different kinds of pauses: identify, why it"s used. Lexical and syntactic storage jump -> jumps - > jumped - > jumping. Tip of the tongue phenomena: why it happens. Different types of errors: repetition, blending, omission, etc. Difference between noun clauses (phrases) and verb clauses (phrases) Figurative speech: grounding: grounds to a meaning (ie. stinky as a skunk) Memory: participants were given sentences to remember to recall at a later date. Language = productive (you can always make a sentence longer) Storage: space saving vs. time saving. Perceiving sounds: babies can perceive sounds early on etc. etc.
