MGTS1601 Final: revision 9
Creating memorable experience:
This relates to experience creation.
1) Tell a story
▪ Cultural and heritage tourism places can be described with a story!
▪ Cultural assets have little meaning on their own unless their
context or story can be conveyed!
Make the experience come alive
• Make it come alive and be interesting!
• )ncorporate a human drama/element into the cultural experience.
• (aving an enjoyable experience enhances visitor satisfaction but
also, importantly, creates opportunities for learning either directly
or indirectly.
. Make the experience participatory
• tourism by its very nature is an active, participatory experiential
activity.
• most cultural tourism attractions e.g. museums, festivals, historic
assets, arts centres should encourage participation.
• providing opportunities to do so enhances the experiences for the
visitor.
. Focus on quality
• Focus on providing the best option for tourists.
• Lack of perceived quality in the form of:
• boring or tired exhibits;
• poor interpretation;
• amateurish presentation
5) Make it relevant to the tourist
▪ cultural tourism attractions are first and foremost tourism
products- that exist to satisfy the needs, wants, and desires of
consumers.
