Learning definition = a change in an organisms" behaviour or thought as a result of experience. Neobehaviourists: behaviourists who did not accept that behaviour is only based on stimulus and response and who factor an organism"s internal processes into the behaviourist model. Light (cs) + loud noise (ucs) freezing (ucr) Half the rats have the loud noise habituated (repeated exposure leading to a decline in response = no longer afraid of noise). If the light (cs) was paired with freezing (response), getting rid of the noise (ucs) shouldn"t affect the behaviour. S-s theory predicts that the light was paired with the noise and since the noise is no longer scary, they will not freeze. S-r theory predicts the habituating to the noise won"t matter and the rats will still freeze. Light (cs) is presented to habituated rats who showed no response. Hence, there is an association bw a cs and the mental representation of the ucs.
