1- Depending on who is writing about this time period, the so-called industrial titans or robber barons were responsible for the US's quick post-civil war industrialization. What were some of the prevalent theories (or, to use Hunt's term, ideologies) advanced to support the brand-new status quo? Do these still exist today?

2- The effects of international commerce on the economy of the participating countries have long been a topic of discussion. Name and briefly describe a couple of the "pros" and "cons" of free trade for this task. What follows from the arguments?
