"Adouble-slit pattern is observed on a screen 2m from the slits.Given that the light is incident normally and has a wavelength of450nm, what is the minimum slit separation for a point 3.2mm fromthe center to be (a) a minimum; or (b) a maximum?"
I'm very new to this topic so sorry if I seem to not know what I amdoing at all. For the formula dsinθ = d(y/L) = mλ , I get d = ?, L= 2m, ? = 450nm, y = 3.2mm. If what I just said is right, I am thencompletely lost as to what minimum/maximum means here. I'dappreciate it if I can get the formulas I need as well as thetheory behind it.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. The correct answers are:(a)0.141mm and(b)0.218mm.
