A block of mass 35 kg. is sitting on a platform. The platform sitson a spring with k=2000 N/m. The mass is initially at rest.
a) If the platform is depressed a distance of 0.50 meters and heldthere, what is the mechanical energy of the system?
b) The platform is then released and the mass moves upward andeventually flies off the platform. Assume the spring returns to itsrelaxed state (unstretched and uncompressed) after the mass leavesthe platform. What are the kinetic energy, the gravitational pointenergy and the elastic potential energy of the system when the massreaches it's highest point?
c) How high will the block go? (Measure this distance from theheight of the uncompressed platform)
