I am doing "Sodium Borohydride Reduction of aKetone"
I have to reduce Benzil (1,2 diphenylethanedione) to Hydrobenzion(1,2-diphenyl-1,2-ethanediol).
I am unsure how to calculate the limitingreagent. It said that it would be either theNaBH4 or the Benzil.
So far this is what i've gotten:
NaBH4: 50mg = 0.005g / 37.83g/mol = 0.000132mol
Benzil: 180mg = 0.180g / 210.23g/mol = 0.000856mol
i'm not sure what to do with those, or if i did it right, or ifthat is it or if i have to balance an equation or something.
Also i am unsure of how to calculate the theoreticalyield of Hydrobenzion.
Thanks!!
