For question 1, there are many, many correct answer combinations.

1. Draw an example structure for each of the following terms, and provide the appropriate common name (not IUPAC) for each structure. When stereochemical centers are present, show the naturally occuring stereoisomer, most common on earth. Do not use “R” groups in your structures.

a. An alpha-amino acid with at least one chirality center

b. A nucleotide

c. A triglyceride (label each fatty acid chain as saturated, mono-unsaturated, or polyunsaturated; an exact name is not needed for this one)

d. A phospholipid (class name OK, exact name not needed)

e. A steroid
