A 0.3284g sample of brass ( containing lead, zinc, copper, andtin) was dissolved in nitric acid. The sparingly solubleSnO2. 4H2O was removed byfiltration, and the combined filtrate and washings were thendiluted to 500.0mL. A 10.00mL aliquot was suitably buffered;titration of the lead, zinc, and copper in this aliquot required37.56mL of 0.002500M EDTA. The copper in a 25.00mL aliquot wasmasked with thiosulfate; the lead and zinc were then titrated with27.67mL of the EDTA solution. Cyanide ion was used to mask thecopper and zinc in a 100mL aliquot; 10.80mL of the EDTA solutionwas needed to titrate the lead ion. Determine the composition ofthe brass sample; evaluate the % of tin by difference.
