(total of 16 carbons in the molecule) HO Oleic Acid is a monounsaturated compound with a pi bond that starts at carbon 9. As the compound is drawn below, this is a CIS isomer. OH Linoleic Acid is a polyunsaturated compound with 18 carbon atoms. Like Oleic, there is a cis-pi bond that starts at carbon 9, but there is also a cis pi bond on carbon 12.
