NQ1: This experiment is the oxidation of an aliphatic secondary alcohol to an aliphatic secondary ketone (aliphatic: no double bonds or extra functional groups). Think about the starting material and the product, and predict what signals you expect to see in the IR spectra of these compounds. How will you know prior to leaving lab if your experiment is successful?
