Let f be the base 10 exponential function, f(x) = 10'. Graph the exponential function y = 10' by plotting points. Discuss whether or not f(x) = 10' has an inverse function. How did you determine this? Using the definition of inverse function, complete the table below for the function y = f^-1(x). Then plot the points to make a graph. In part (a) y = 10', so we could say, "10 to the power of x equals y." Write a similar statement about the inverse relationship between x and y in part (d). How would you write this as an equation?
