Document Summary
Lifespan development: is the field of study that examine patterns of growth, change, and stability in behaviour over the lifespan. Covers the entire lifespan from birth to death. Examines the ways people develop physically, intellectually, socially. All developmentalists view development as a continuing process throughout the lifespan. Scientist were interested in how her development would be the same/different from a baby who was traditionally concieved. Interested in studying cognition, interactions, physical growth, genetics. Nature refers to traits and abilities inherited from parents by genetics through maturation. Nurture refers to environmental influences that shape behaviour. Genetics can have an influence on shaping the children"s environment, they may seek out environments that match their genetics. Scientists agree that both heredity and environment are important in development. The interaction of the two is what accounts for the range of human development. Apply the scientific method by developing theories, and using methodological techniques to systematically evaluate accuracy of assumptions.
