Document Summary

Visible light: energy within the em spectrum that humans can percieve ranging from 400 - 700nm. Focusing light onto the receptors the light coming in is focused by a 2 element optical system: cornea and lens cornea: transparent covering of the front of the eye. Objects distance and relative placement onto the retina objects far away: image lands before the retina objects closer: image lands after the retina accommodation cages the lens curvature to allow for the images to be focused on the retina. Conditions of the eye presbyopia: the loss of the ability to accommodate, dealt with by wearing reading glasses myopia: nearsightedness. Receptors and perception light entering visual receptors triggers electrical signals when the light is absorbed by visual pigments molecules in the receptors. Transduction the transformation of one form of energy into another form visual transduction occurs in the rods and cones transforming light into electricity.
