Sex: the biological characteristics that distinguish males and females. Bisexual: emotionally, physically, and/or sexually attracted to men and women. Transgender: lives as a member of a gender other than sex assigned at birth based on anatomical sex. May take hormones, have surgery to change their sexual characteristics. Questioning or queer: do not identify as straight or are questioning gender identity. *the + refers to i for intersex or a for asexual. Gender: whatever behaviors or attitudes a group considers proper for its males and females; masculinity and femininity. Not biological, it is on a continuum. Primary sex characteristics: organs directly related to reproduction (eg. vagina or penis) Secondary sex characteristics: physical distinction between males and females that are not clearly related to reproduction (e. g. larger muscles, body hair, broader hips in women)
