GENTECH 3MP3 Lecture Notes - The Employer, Job Performance, Classic Case

8 views6 pages

Document Summary

One of the challenges posed by the increased use of technology in recruiting potential employees is that the number of applicants to vacancies is often quite high. This is because sending a resume in response to a job opening has an exceptionally low cost to the potential job candidate. What this has meant for employers though is that they must increasingly sort a large volume of resumes into people who are qualified and those who are not qualified but decided to try anyway. Because responding to a job ad is so low cost, many job candidates will respond to job advertisements even if they do not qualify for the job. The reasoning is that they might as well take a chance and see what happens. This is logical behavior based on how little effort is required to amend, and subsequently, customize a resume.
