REL 101 Lecture Notes - Golden Calf, Book Of Deuteronomy

44 views5 pages

Document Summary

Deuteronomy begs the question whether the people were truly monotheistic. Some weren"t ready to accept god as their one true leader. At the end of exodus, the people still struggle to keep their faith in god. The isrealites tell moses to speak to god at the mountain. Aaron makes the golden calf and the people praise the calf. Aaron could have been trying to build an idol of god instead of trying to deceive the israelites. Moses talks god off the ledge and convinves him not to kill the people. He reminds him of his covenant to abraham. The isrealites have to wander for 40 years till their children can take over and enter gods promised land. If you don"t keep the covanent, you cant keep the land . Deuteronomy 10 shows the new commandments that the lord wants the people to follow. Canon is a list of books, every one has a greed.
