The annual cycle of a honey bee colony. Social units are composed of thousands of worker bees, drones and a queen living together in a hive or other dwelling. Aggregates of workers, drones, and a queen living together on a nest. Hollow spaces that provide them shelter from the weather and from predators. Serve same purpose and have movable frames, allowing management. On wax combs built in protected cavities (natural or artificial) Bees build combs to rear brood and to store food. Combs built in parallel, hanging vertically from the top part of the nest and are separated from one another by a space of 9 mm. Array of hexagonal cells with horizontal orientation and slightly angled upwards. Bees build three types of cells: 1) worker cells, 2) drone cells, and 3) queen cells. Most cells are worker cells rear worker brood or store pollen or honey. Slightly larger drone cells used to rear drones, also sometimes to store food.
