Apis mellifera scutellata of special interest because it was introduced into the americas. The name was chosen because of their yellow scutellum. The bees better adapted survived (natural selection) Occurs southeast of the sahara down to south africa. Savannah climate (open woodland) hot with long dry seasons and abundant honey plants. Swarms and colonies nest in unsheltered sites they do not need to survive a winter, there is nectar all year long but in different locations.
