MEE 521 Lecture : MEE 521 Chapter 1
Document Summary
Computer-aided design (cad) and computer-aided manufacturing (cam) theory and applications. Cad/cam systems (hardware and software), geometric modeling using curves, surfaces and solids, cad/cam data exchange, cad and cam integration, mechanical assembly, Mechanical tolerance, mass property calculations, process planning and tool path generation, integration of cad/cam with the production machine, and computer control of machines and processes in manufacturing systems. In general, computer-aided design (cad) is the use of a wide range of computer-based tools that assist engineers, architects and other design professionals in their design activities. And specifically, cad (is the use of computer software to design and document a product"s design process. Engineering drawing entails the use of graphical symbols such as points, lines, curves, planes and shapes. Essentially, it gives detailed description about any component in a graphical form. Engineering drawings have been in use for more than 2000 years.
