INDS 105 Lecture : Intro to INDS notes set 7
Document Summary
To document a space, stand in the room as you sketch it. Be sure to draw everything except the furniture. Once you have a good sketch, measure the room. Start in one corner and continue around until you end up where you started. Find the dimensions of all the walls; locate and measure all of the doors and windows. Measure anything else of importance, and write down these dimensions on your sketch. This drawing is what you will use to draft the space when you get back to your desk. After you get back to your workspace, lightly draft the plan manually or into a computer program. Drafted doors show the direction in which the door will move when opened or closed; this is called the door swing . Indicating door swing helps the designer and architect keep from adding abstructions to the door.
