The first flaming torch was invented, making it the first portable lamp in prehistoric naturally, these torches were used in caves to illuminate cave walls. Since then, our world has advanced amazingly, and we now have man-made light. Oil wick lanterns, candles, all types of societies have used lighting from ancient egypt to medieval europe. Shakespear used lighting to illuminate his stage scenery in the renaissance theaters, and classic painters, such as leonardo davinci and rembrandt, used lighting techniques to create ambiance in their productions. At the same time, the science of light was also developing. In the 1800"s progress started to escalate, and electric batteries, theater spotlights, and gas-lit street lamps were invented.
