Trigeminal cranial nerve has 2 functions: motor- temporal and masseter muscles jaw clenching and lateral movement of the jaw, sensory- 3 divisions: 1) ophthalmic; 2) maxillary; and 3) mandibular. Neck: inspect neck for: head position is in the midline and accessory neck muscles are symmetrical, the presence of masses, scars, deformities or abnormal posture, test for range of motion of neck for: flexion, lateral bending, and rotation. Observe for smoothness of motion, controlled motion, pain, crepitus and altered rom.
