Sparta took over athens as an oligarchy however its short tyranny quickly ends. The forming event in plato"s life is the death of socrates. A democratic regime charged socrates and executed him. Plato felt socrates was very wise, noble, critical thinker, reasoning, understanding and someone who took philosophy seriously. Socrates is plato"s archetype of philosopher searching for truth. Plato is upset with society for executing someone he felt was not a criminal. Some argue the doctrine aren"t meant to contain precise conclusions or judgmental. Instead of dogmatic, they are more methodical and explorative. Plato thinks doing good is necessary to a good life.
