Document Summary

The tale of pyramus and thisbe within a midsummer night"s dream. This is a play within a play, as at the end of shakespeare"s, a midsummer night"s. Dream , the play pyramus and thisbe" is performed. Pyramus and thisbe is a tragic story, but the way it is acted here is more of an unintentional comedy, although the plot elements remain the same. *main elements of the original tale are: pyramus, thisbe, the wall, the moonlight, and the lion. In shakespeare"s, the parts of the moonlight, wall, and lion are played by actors. Comedic elements of shakespeare"s version: the narrator at the very beginning of the play uses incorrect punctuation in his prologue. Example from the prologue using the narrator"s incorrect punctuation: If we offend, it is with our good will. That you should think, we come not to offend, but with good will. To show our simple skill, that is the true beginning of our end.
